Profile

Since finishing an M.A in Fashion at St Martins alongside Alexander McQueen, Rebecca Barton, the founder of Cushlab has been been working as a designer and maker. A finalist in prestigious design awards such as the Jerwood Prize, and the Smirnoff Awards she freelanced for several years, designing for several companies mainly in Womenswear tailoring.

After running a successful Bridal couture company for 5 years she made the transition over to cushions and interior furnishings in 2008. Cushlab now sells all over the world, both to private clients and also Interior designers. Her work is well received by the press and has been featured by many high profile magazines and newspapers(see press page).

She lives in Kent and has three children.

The ethos behind the company is to produce statement, design led cushions that rely on craft rather than mass-production. Every cushion is made to order, which enables us to provide customers with a bespoke service, including colour and scale changes. We are also happy to plan deliveries for days and times that suit you. New cushions are added throughout the year, themes are often based on natural motif, such as flowers and woodgrain, texture is of paramount importance, as is colour and quality.

Cushlab strives to be an ethical manufacturer, all cushions are made in-house in a small studio in rural Kent, and all fabric suppliers are based in England.

Each cushion is made to order in a range of natural fibres such as wool felt, cotton, linen and silk, and all off-cuts are used as swatches or donated to school projects so there is no wastage.
