Profile

Since finishing an M.A in Fashion at St Martins with the late and great Alexander McQueen, Rebecca Barton, the founder of cushlab has been been working as a designer and maker. A finalist in several prestigious design awards such as the Jerwood Prize, she made the transition over to cushions in 2008.

The ethos behind the company is to produce statement, design led cushions that rely on craft rather than   mass-production. New cushions are added throughout the year, as trend and whim hit!

Themes are often based on natural motif, such as flowers and woodgrain, texture is of paramount importance, as is colour and quality.

Cushlab strives to be an ethical manufacturer, all cushions are made in-house in a small studio in rural Kent, and all fabric suppliers are based in England.                                                                         Each cushion is made to order in a range of natural fibres such as wool felt, cotton, linen and silk, and all off-cuts are used as swatches or donated to school projects so there is no wastage.

Currently Cushlab sells almost exclusively through the website and a handful of selected shops in the UK.
